Sitting is the new smoking And not just because all the cool kids are doing it. And no, standing is not the way to kick our chain sitting habit. The key to physical and mental comfort during a long day of work is movement. Human beings are sitting for an unprecedented amount of time, and we tend to be unaware of how uncomfortable we are until we get up and walk away from our desks after clocking out. A common solution employed to promote movement is setting regular alarms. But let’s face it, how many alarms have you not wanted to snooze or simply ignore?
Let’s kick the habit with the help of Woblo, a workspace buddy designed to give you the breaks your body knows you need. Woblo has several stages that gradually increase in intrusiveness to serve as reminders to get up and move. Any time during this routine you can get up and Woblo will reset. Beginning with a gentle light-up sequence, Woblo acts as a non-intrusive reflection of the passage of time. However, if the early signals are ignored, Woblo will get antsy and wobble towards the edge of your desk. Woblo refuses to be snoozed, and if further ignored falls off the edge of your workspace and begins to sing a tune that promotes moving. The sensor in the charging base will notice when you physically remove yourself from your workspace, and Woblo will reset, happy that you’re staying healthy.
