Upcycled Robot

Upcycled Atounomous Robot

Mechatronic design

For a mechatronics course project, my team and I developed a robot concept, design, and prototype over the course of three months. Though I participated actively in building the physical prototype, I was primarily responsible for programming the robot to perform its required tasks.

The concept began with a finite-state diagram which we used to develop our PCB schematic and create a 12” x 12” x 10” robot that could autonomously sort black and white ping pong balls and place them in the proper goal using infrared sensors.

We determined to use exclusively previously unwanted materials to create an entirely upcycled robot. Excluding the majority of electronic components, we succeeded in this regard. As a result, our robot met all functionality needs without a large budget.
